Uganda is expected to hold elections early next year as announced by the Chairperson of Ugandan Electoral Commission (UEC).
Uganda has been ruled by Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for over 34years since he took during one party system. He is now facing more resistance and opposition as new Leaders have woke up to contest. One of the Leaders known is Bobi Wine.
Wine, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi, is seeking to end the 34-year-rule of President Yoweri Museveni in elections to be held early next year.
In a post on Bobo Wine posted on Facebook stated that he was on his way to Mbale Region where he was supposed to have a radio public talk show where his way was blocked by the Soldiers and Police.
Police personnel then “started firing teargas and live bullets. Many of his fans were heavily injured and currently being nursed.
Bobi Wine started active politics in 2017 after winning a parliamentary by-election and subsequently declared he would stand for presidency.
The move by Bobi Wine to join the race has stirred many especially the youths as they show attendance in large numbers in during rallies. Wine is preaching the message that Museveni has long failed to develop the country and also has failed to fight against corruption issues, Human rights issues and over serving.
His large youth following has rattled the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party and drawn a security crackdown that has included dispersing his rallies with teargas and bullets, beatings and detaining some of his supporters. But all these Wine just taking them as part of his motivations.
