Batatawala being prosecuted of Corruption charges


Past two years after the new government took over the powers rulling Democratic Progressive Party DPP things have gone worse and worse as more corruption is loaming in the landlocked country.

Most top politicians have been caught and arrested just for two or few hours then are bailed out using their money whilst the poor people are dying of hunger and lack of medicine in the hospitals.

Recently, a businessman in the name of Batatawala was arrested for corruption in procurement and purchasing of uniforms at Immigration department in Malawi from 2008 to 2012.

In his arrest two other former Immigration officers were also arrested only to be given Court bails after 12 hrs of their arrests.

The Magistrate Court Chipofya in Blantyre has also granted a bail the the businessman though Ant-Corruption Bereau (A.C.B.) a body that fights corruption in Malawi requested the same court not to grant the bail because the guy is not being cooperative during investigations.

Three months ago a rulling Minister responsible for Energy was also arrested for flouting the procurement procedure in purchasing Fuels at National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA). His name Newton Kambala and his friends including a presidential advisor at the State House.

The Director General of ACB Martha Chizuma openly complained that the president of Malawi Razarus Chakwera is disturbing her investigations as he is calling her every morning. This was revealed when she held a meeting with CEDEP Director Silvester Namiwa in Lilongwe.

Most other organizations have criticized the government unfortunately whosoever is heard accusing them is either being beaten up or killed.

Currently the general situation in Malawi is full of protests and demonstrations whilst most people are crying for many necessities have gone high in prices.

One of protests organizer is popular known politician Honourable Bon Kalindo usually called Mr Winiko who was part of rulling government unfortunately when things including the things the Tonse Alliance promised are not being fulfilled and that prompted him to resign and started protesting.
