The Nkhotakota Police Station on 18 August, 2020 arrested a man with rape charges.
Williams Kaponda who is Police Spokesman for Nkhotakota Police confirmed the incident.
The suspect is said to have entered the house of the victim during the night of 17 August, 2020.
In his statement Kaponda said that the victim started by dreaming about someone sleeping with her and when she woke up she was shoked to find someone on top of her and she started shouting for help. By this time the husband of the victim was fast asleep beside her.
The community immediately came and cought the suspect later was taken to Police Station.
During mitigation, the suspect said he did that under influence of alcohol and pleaded guilty of the offense. He also begged for leniency when passing the judgement as he claimed to be the only Breadwinner in his family.
Later, the First Grade Magistrate sentenced him to 6 years imprisonment with hard labour.
Some villagers said the man believed to have used Magic that made the husband not to notice of his entrance.
Police, however, advised the community to avoid malpractice which are usually done under influence of intoxication.
