Previous Five constitutional
Judges in Malawi

It was 2019 General elections results were challenged and voted again in June 2020 where current president of Malawi was declared a winner.

Soon after the president Dr Lazarus Chakwera took office fired two Malawi Electral Commissioners Kunje and Mathanga who later obtained a court injunction to restraining the president’s order.

When the MEC commissioners were fired the opposition party of Democratic Progressive party (DPP) opened a case in the High court of Malawi where they are arguing that since the seating president fired the Commissioners because of incompetence and at the same time they were part of the MEC body declaring the current president then the DPP party claims the results were wrong as they were announced by the incompetent commissioners.

Tonight 23 August 2021 the Chief Justice of Supreme court of Malawi Justice Nyirenda has certified the case as the constitutional one as it has all relevant facts as to the previous case.

More updates shall follow in regards to the current situation.
