It was three months ago when Kenyan Government eased the restrictions on fighting Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
This allowed schools to reopen and most operations turned to normal.
This is when the government also re-opend the airports.
When announcing the measures to be followed to all flights into Kenya also produced a list of the countries to be allowed to make their flights into Kenya.
On the list Tanzania was not included and this made Tanzania’s government through its Tanzania’s Civil Aviation (TCA) to react by announcing a ban that all flights and the Kenyan’s aeroplanes are not allowed in Tanzania or in it’s sky space.
The argument of Kenyan Government was that Tanzania declared itself Covid-19 free which could result into all the airline passengers from Tanzania not to be put on quarantine for 14 days after their arrival.
Kenyan’s aeroplanes had flown to Northern part of Tanzania, Kilimanjaro a place known for its Tourism attraction.
Then TCA did not allow the aeroplanes to fly out as the ban as they contravened with the ban which was still in force.
Mr Johari who is Director of TCA confirmed that now there are four aeroplanes from Kenya detained in Tanzania.
“The ban will not be removed until our air travelers are have started getting treatment as those on their list”, said Johari.
Kenyan’s Airways make more flights of about ten only into Darsalam city a week and also several of them to it’s Tourist Centers of Kilimanjaro and Zanzibar.
Currently talks to resolve the mis-understandings between the two countries.
