Malawi a nation which is known for it’s peace loving people has turned into a field of political arrests as all people who are commenting I’ll of the current regime are being handcuffed for their say.

Past 12 months Malawi as a country has been or autopilot as many things are not being controlled by the government as it has lost its direction. Many citizens joined hands to hold protests and demonstrations.

One of the crucial Politician turned Human Rights Activist Mr Bon Kalindo has held series of protests and demonstrations in the country for the past 6 months which has seen the government in response to addressing the raised issues is arresting the man.

Bon Kalindo is a formerly a Primary Teacher, and later joined comedies and drama in the country. Whilst in this industry he later contested as a member of Parliament in his home district Mulanje where he won his first term.

Later the guy dumped rulling party and started a grouping called United Transformation Movement (U.T.M) whose leader is the current vice president of the Republic of Malawi Saulosi Chilima who was formerly the CEO of Airtel Malawi.

In 2021 when Kalindo found out that the president was not walking the talk he later dumped the rulling side again and surrendered all the government properties and joined the concerned citizens through the brand of “Malawi Salibwino” in local language which translates that “Malawi is not okay”

This Malawi Salibwino has troubled the government as it is not concerned with the lives of it’s voters. Many people this current year have failed to plants their farmlands due to high prices of commodities like seeds and fertilizer.

Past two weeks the activist has been arrested twice for the offenses that do not carry wait before the court and other people describe such arrests as the political witch-hunt.

In his first offense he was accused of delivering false information to the public. His statement was about how the people who were born with albinism are killed and where their bodies are taken to.

Recently has also been arrested as the police claims he illegally connected power in the house he is residing currently in Area 25 in the city of Lilongwe.

The information our journalist in Lilongwe found out is that the house does not belong to him but rented. People are left puzzled as the landlord is not arrested but the occupant a thing which does not add salt.

Today 27 January, 2022 the man appeared before the honourable court and he pleaded not guilty and the government side requested the Court to remand him to prison till next Monday that will be on 31 January to continue hearing whether the Human Rights Activist should be granted court bail or not.

The offense he is being accused is a similar offense many people do commit at the Electricity body just charges them to pay a penalty fee but the same thing has not been done in this case.
