Reports just received by African Connect Site correspondent in the city of Blantyre are that unknown number of soldiers and men for Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) have drowned in the Shire River at Nkula Falls where the power making company stands.

Mr Timu Kachitosi a spokesperson for ESCOM has confirmed the developed during the interviews with a local Radio station of Malawi Broadcasting Station (MBC).
In his statement Kachitosi explained that the incident occured yesterday evening as the men were working to fix the power producing machine which was destroyed by the Cyclonic Ana early this month making blackouts to be persistent countrywide.
Currently the marine department is busy searching for the bodies of the people were drowned when the boat they were using was overturned by the tough waters on the river.
This morning the reports said that three bodies were found during night but already dead whilst other bodies are still missing.
Malawi has been hit by the heavy rains leaving many people dead and others displaced who ate currently accommodated in churches, schools and halls.
